ANNAPOLIS, Md. (March 9, 2010) – Brown Contracting recently completed its first LEED Silver project as rated by the U.S. Green Building Council.
The project involved 9,000 square feet of tenant improvements for the Maryland Energy Administration. The green materials incorporated into this renovation included lumber and doors certified by the Forest Stewardship Council, recycled carpet tiles, natural materials such as marmoleum sheet flooring, and recycled plastic visual barriers between work spaces.
Brown Contracting helped the team gain an additional LEED point for diverting construction waste from landfills in excess of the specified percentage. The project also may also qualify for an additional exemplary LEED point for diverting 98% of construction waste from landfills through strategies such as salvaging metal and copper wiring for recycling and reusing building materials and components both within the Maryland Energy Administration space as well as other spaces in the area.
Brown Contracting looks forward to assisting you on your next LEED project.
